Ahmedabad | June 29, 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Gujarat on July 4, with preparations underway for the inauguration of CG Semi Private Limited’s semiconductor manufacturing facility in Sanand. While the visit is being planned, the Prime Minister’s official itinerary is yet to be announced.
CG Semi, a collaboration between CG Power and Industrial Solutions, Renesas Electronics Corporation (Japan), and Stars Microelectronics (Thailand), is set to begin commercial production at its semiconductor assembly and testing unit located in Sanand. The facility marks another significant step in India’s efforts to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing.
According to sources, besides the Sanand programme, the Prime Minister may also attend an event in the Kutch region during the same visit, though details are still being finalized.
Prime Minister Modi’s most recent visit to Gujarat was on June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, when he attended events in Surat and Daman and launched multiple infrastructure and development initiatives.
Sanand has rapidly emerged as one of India’s major semiconductor manufacturing hubs. The Prime Minister has previously inaugurated two key semiconductor projects in the region—Micron Technology’s ₹22,500-crore assembly, packaging and testing facility and Kaynes Semicon’s ₹3,300-crore semiconductor assembly and testing plant.
With CG Semi preparing to commence commercial operations, Sanand continues to strengthen Gujarat’s position as a leading destination for semiconductor investments and advanced electronics manufacturing in India.
