Third-Place Victory Marks a Significant Global Achievement for India’s Cooperative Movement
Panama City: In a significant development for the international cooperative movement, IFFCO Chairman Shri Dileep Sanghani has been elected as a Director (At-Large Director) of the Global Board of Directors of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) in the election held in Panama.

Shri Dileep Sanghani secured third place in the election, marking a significant global achievement for India’s cooperative movement.

As soon as Shri Sanghani was declared elected, enthusiasm and pride swept through the Indian cooperative delegation present in Panama. Members collectively raised the slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram,” filling the auditorium with patriotic spirit.
The election was held during the ICA General Assembly in Panama City. His election is being regarded as an important moment for India’s vast cooperative sector and is expected to further strengthen India’s representation and voice on the global cooperative platform.
Shri Dileep Sanghani has been associated with the cooperative sector for several decades and has worked extensively for farmers, the rural economy and the strengthening of cooperative institutions. He currently serves as Chairman of IFFCO and GUJCOMASOL and has held important responsibilities in various national and international cooperative organisations.
The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) is a global organisation representing cooperative organisations across countries and regions. India’s representation on its Global Board provides an international platform for articulating the experiences and perspectives of the Indian cooperative movement.
Shri Sanghani’s election also comes in the context of India’s growing focus on cooperative development and the government’s “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” vision. The cooperative sector has been positioned as a means of supporting farmers, rural communities and citizens through greater economic and social participation.
Expressing gratitude for his election, Shri Dileep Sanghani thanked ICA member countries, delegates and the global cooperative community. He said he remains committed to presenting the spirit, experience and perspective of India’s cooperative movement effectively on the global platform and to strengthening cooperation worldwide.
