Activist Medha Patkar detained along Gujarat border

Today morning in Chhota Udepur district, social activist Medha Patkar was among 200 detained from Relgha checkpost near to Gujarat border. Women and children were also detained. All persons were going towards Maharashtra border.

Knowing her arrival plan to Gujarat, since yesterday evening security was tighten along Gujarat border.

She was detained fearing that she will try to meet affected people of Narmada dam region.

Medha is a social activist working on various crucial political and economical issues raised by Adivasis, Dalits,Farmers, labourers and Women facing injustice. She is the founder member of 31 years old people’s movement in the three states: Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) engaged in struggle for justice to the dam projects affected people.
