Ahmedabad City would be hosting for the very first time “Neurosonocon-2016”, the annual National Conference of
Neurosonology at the Zydus Hospital, Ahmedabad. Neurosonology finds its primary application in vocations such as neurology, neurosurgery, Neuro-anasthesia, neuro critical care and related fields of Neuroscience. Organised under the aegis of the Society of
Neurosonology, the two day conference scheduled on 7 & 8 May 2016 will host some of the eminent names in the field of Neurology,
Neurosonology and Stroke from various parts of India as well as
abroad. Six International faculty from Singapore, one from Indonesia and two from Canada would be in the city to offer their expertise and impart knowledge to approximately 180 delegates from across the country.
“Society of Neursonology, through ‘Neurosoncon 2016′, will bring under one roof some of the best Neurologists, Brain Surgeons and other dignitaries of academic field in the department of Neurology,
Neurosonology and Stroke to elaborate on the recent developments in the respective field. The aim of the conference is to discuss and
impart awareness about the development, advances and progress made in the field of Neurosonology, which is essentially the ultrasonic imaging of the brain and other neural structures. The conference has also workshops on Hands-on Neurology, a Nursing Symposium and Hands-on Workshop of Neurosono – Technologist” informed Dr. Arvind Sharma, eminent Neurologist and Head Dept of Neurology & Stroke Specialist at Zydus Hospital who is also the organizing secretary of the conference.
He also mentioned that Ultrasound of the Brain is now possible in
Gujarat. It is the first of its kind technology by which one can see
the blood of the arteries of the Brain.
A live workshop of 5 patients would be done during the Conference
where without doing a MR Angio and CT Angio, one can demonstrate the brain vessels right from the bedside. Dr Teo Hock Luen renowned Neurologist from National University Hospital Singapore and Dr Maher Saqqur, TCD Expert and Associate Professor at University of Alberta, Canada said that as it is ultrasound, there is no radiation, completely safe, repeatable as many number of times, portable and real time imaging, resulting in an excellent non invasive technology.
“This field has advanced technology aided healthcare and continues to invest in neuro-scientific expansion. ‘Neurosonocon 2016’ would also give an opportunity to city based doctors specializing in Stroke and Neurosonology to discuss the application of this stream of medical science in acute Ischemic stroke, Neurocritical care, Nerve and Muscle Ultrasound. A comprehensive overview of the latest discoveries and knowledge in neurosonology and of therapeutic strategies will also be shared” Dr Arvind Sharma added. Zydus Hospital has supported the conference by offering its premise as venue.
