On Monday in Ahmedabad, Anandiben Patel gave away Ahmedabad Citizens Awards to Music Composer Purshottam Upadhyay and singer Hansa Dave. This awards were given in recognition of their service to Gujarat and Gujarati culture.
Purushottam Upadhyay, a renowned Music composer of Gujarati songs and music. Some of his best songs include Mari Koi Dalkhima Pandada Nathi Mane Pankharni Bik Na Batao (Gulmohar). Krishna Sudama Ni Jodi, Dikri Chali Chali Potane Sasre Muki Maa Baap. The Best Of Purshottam Upadhyay Gujarati compilation songs album was released in 2011.
Hansa Dave also received an award for her contribution to Gujarati music.
Both the recipients, received a citation from CM Anandiben Patel. Shawls were presented to them on the occasion. CM Anandiben Patel and Mayor Meenkshiben Patel gave occasional speech. Awardees expressed their thankfulness.
Also, present were Ahmedabad Mayor Meenakshiben Patel and Municipal councillors. There were other invitees an guests at the ceremony. In Ahmedabad, award ceremony by AMC took place at Sanskardham Paldi.
