Passenger coming from Kuwait flight by AI 982 on April 13 2015 was arrested with 2004 grams of gold by Customs Airport officers at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Ahmedabad. The gold has a market value of Rs. 53.44 lakhs. Seven Gold Bar/ pieces recovered concealed in checkin bag duly wrapped in Aluminium foil. Further investigation is under progress.
Incidents of gold smuggling are on rise at Ahmedabad airport. In past few months, many passengers were detained illegally bringing gold to India through Ahmedabad airport.
