Ahead of the T20 World Cup Final tomorrow at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, authorities in Ahmedabad have activated extensive preparedness measures as temperatures in Gujarat continue to rise and heatwave warnings remain in place.
Forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department indicate rising daytime temperatures across parts of Gujarat. In response, Ahmedabad’s well-known Heat Action Plan has been activated to protect residents and the thousands of cricket fans expected to attend the final.
Authorities are issuing advisories through media alerts and public announcements urging people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours, and watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and state emergency services have coordinated multiple precautionary steps, including:
- Activation of emergency response teams
- Public drinking water points across major areas
- Heat awareness campaigns for visitors and citizens
- Rapid deployment of medical teams and ambulances
With tens of thousands of spectators expected for the final, the Gujarat Cricket Association has introduced special heat-safety arrangements at the stadium:
- Free drinking water stations for spectators
- Mist fans and cooling systems in seating areas
- Distribution of ORS packets
- Two fully equipped mini-hospital units
- Deployment of 108 emergency ambulances and medical response teams
Authorities have also kept special ambulance services and emergency response units on standby, including arrangements for rapid medical evacuation if required. These services are designed to ensure quick treatment for dehydration, heat stroke, or other medical emergencies during the high-profile match.
Officials say Ahmedabad is fully prepared to host the historic final while ensuring spectator safety. With heat-mitigation strategies, medical readiness, and stadium-level arrangements in place, the city aims to deliver a safe and memorable cricketing spectacle.
