Ahmedabad, November 4, 2026: Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut has introduced a series of regulatory measures covering noise pollution, tenant information and the functioning of spa and massage centres across the city. The directives place greater responsibility on event organisers, property owners and commercial establishment operators to maintain records and comply with police requirements.
The measures are aimed at improving public safety, strengthening police verification mechanisms and preventing violations of law under the cover of residential and commercial activities.
Noise Pollution: Restrictions on Loudspeakers and DJ Systems
Under the noise pollution directives, the use of loudspeakers, DJ systems, microphones and other sound-amplifying equipment is subject to prescribed time restrictions and prior police permission.
The general restriction applies between 10 PM and 6 AM. Organisers planning public programmes involving sound systems must obtain permission from the appropriate police authority in advance. Applications are to be submitted to the concerned Police Inspector for events within a single police station jurisdiction, while programmes extending across multiple police station areas require approval from the concerned DCP.
Event venues, including party plots, community halls, auditoriums and conference facilities, are also required to follow applicable sound-level standards. Organisers must ensure that noise generated during indoor events does not create disturbance in surrounding residential areas.
The prescribed permissible noise levels vary according to the nature of the area, with separate limits for industrial, commercial, residential and silence zones.
Property Owners Asked to Provide Tenant Details
In a separate directive, the police administration has emphasised the importance of tenant verification. Owners renting out houses, shops, offices, industrial premises, warehouses and other properties are required to submit relevant information about their tenants to the local police station.
The information includes the tenant’s identity, photograph, residential address, contact details and supporting identification documents. Property owners must also provide details of the rented premises, rental arrangements and the date from which the tenancy begins.
The initiative is intended to help police maintain updated records of people occupying rented properties and facilitate verification whenever required.
Spa and Massage Centres Under Police Monitoring
Spa and massage parlour operators have also been brought under specific reporting requirements. Owners are required to maintain and submit information concerning their establishments and employees to the respective police authorities.
Employee records must include photographs, identity documents, residential addresses and contact information. In the case of foreign nationals working at such establishments, relevant passport, visa and stay-related particulars are also required.
The requirements are intended to improve transparency in the operation of these businesses and enable authorities to identify establishments violating applicable laws.
Greater Accountability for Businesses and Property Owners
Through these separate regulatory measures, Ahmedabad Police has sought to strengthen compliance across residential, commercial and recreational establishments.
Property owners, event organisers and spa operators will need to pay particular attention to documentation, permissions and verification procedures. Non-compliance may invite legal action under the applicable provisions mentioned in the respective police notifications.
The directives underline the police administration’s focus on public order, noise management and closer monitoring of commercial activities in Ahmedabad.
