Ahmedabad, Gujarat: In a significant initiative ahead of the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra, the Ahmedabad Police organized a Communal Harmony (Ekta) March to reinforce the message of peace, unity, and brotherhood across the city.

Senior police officials, personnel, community leaders, and citizens participated in the march, which passed through several sensitive localities along the Rath Yatra route. The initiative was aimed at strengthening public confidence and promoting communal harmony before one of Gujarat’s largest religious processions.
During the march, police appealed to residents to avoid believing or sharing rumours, particularly those circulating on social media. Citizens were urged to verify information through official sources and immediately report any suspicious or misleading content to the police instead of forwarding it.

Officials emphasized that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility and called upon people from all communities to cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a safe and incident-free Rath Yatra. The awareness drive also highlighted the importance of mutual respect, social unity, and responsible use of digital platforms.
The communal harmony march is part of Ahmedabad Police’s broader security and confidence-building measures ahead of the Rath Yatra. Authorities have already intensified patrolling, conducted preventive checks, questioned known offenders, and implemented comprehensive traffic and security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the procession.
Police reiterated that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb public peace or spread misinformation. Citizens were encouraged to celebrate the festival in a spirit of harmony, making the Rath Yatra a symbol of unity and communal brotherhood.
