Female Crime Branch PI and Team Keep a Watchful Eye While Dancing Garba in Traditional Attire
Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Police’s SHE Teams are fully prepared to ensure women’s safety during the auspicious festival of Navratri. As part of the special security drive, a team led by a female Crime Branch Police Inspector visited the AC Dome Garba Mahotsav in the Sarkhej area of Ahmedabad, dressed in traditional attire.
The women police personnel first entered the venue and spent nearly an hour moving around the entire dome, conducting a detailed inspection of the premises. They subsequently visited the surveillance room to thoroughly check each CCTV camera and review the security arrangements.
After completing the inspection, the female PI and her team joined the participants on the Garba floor. While dancing alongside the revellers, they kept a close watch on young men and suspicious individuals who might engage in harassment or other inappropriate activities. The team also remained vigilant against incidents of molestation and the unauthorised recording of women’s private moments.
During the inspection, one man was noticed recording a video. The police immediately approached him and checked his mobile phone. However, further questioning revealed that he was filming women from his own group.
Several large-scale Garba events are being organised across Ahmedabad’s western areas, stretching from the SG Highway towards the SP Ring Road. Eight separate teams were deployed to inspect various party plots, air-conditioned domes, clubs and community Garba venues.
According to the police, different teams will remain on duty every night throughout Navratri, from 8 pm until the Garba events conclude. The police have stated that strict and immediate action will be taken against anyone found engaging in harassment, while assistance will be provided promptly to women who need help.
The initiative aims to strengthen security at Garba Avenues and ensure that women can participate in the Navratri celebrations in a safe and secure environment.
