Today, lord Jagannath’s 137th yatra started in Ahmedabad from Jagannath temple in Ahmedabad.
Devotees turn up in large number to catch glimpse of lord Jagannath and offer their services in many ways, by contriburing in kitchen in preparing prasad, decoarating and pull chariots of lord Jagannath, Shubhadra and Balram.
Yatra started with Mangala Aarti in the temple and Pahind ceremony of serving lord Jagannath.
Yarta will go around walled city area starting from Jamalpur,Astodia,God Limda,Raipur,Kalupur,Prem Darwaja,Saraspur,Dariapur,Shahpur and returns to the temple in evening.
Saraspur is famous for lunch from maternal uncle called Mameru. Poles of Saraspur are busy serving Mameru, lunch of Puri,MohanThal,Bataka Nu Shak,Dal and Bhat.
Prasad of Mung, Jamun, Malpua and Ganthia are distributed throughout the procession.
Police and Para-military forces are deployed for security of Yatra. In the process there are 11 elephants and 98 trucks. All elephants are nicely decorated.
Devotees are full of joy and enthusiam.
