Air India’s Khadi dress code on flights

Today India’s National ailines Air India’s crew members will have Khadi made uniforms on flights. The Khadi and Village industries Commission (KVIC) has made an agreement with Air India on this. As per the agreement, Khadi silk saree, Khadi trousers, Khadi shirts and jackets will be provided to the crew members. Other essentials provided to passengers during flights will also be of Khadi. The first experiment of this has been done in the flight which took PM Narendra Modi to 3 nations this week. The KVIC plans to take this initiative further by signing new similar other airlines.

KVIC is in discussions with many state governments also for Khadi made dresses for their staff at various guest houses. Goa has entered into an agreement with KVIC for Khadi made dresses for its staff in one of their guest houses. Air India had last month placed order worth Rs 1.21 crore with the KVIC for getting 25,000 units of amenity kits.
