Akshay Tritiya celebration in India today

Today due to nationwide lockdown People will hypothetically celebrate auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya and not go out to purchase gold jewellery/gold bar or gold coin.

There are more than 26,000 confirmed Coronavirus cases and lockdown has been imposed since 24th March in first round, lockdown in second round continues till 3rd May.

As per Hindu calendar, on lucky muhurat of Akshay Tritiya there is a mythology to do purchasing of golden jewelry after worshipping goddess Laxmiji.

There is importance of worshipping and purchasing. The day is also celebrated as Parshuram Jayanti and Treta era started with commencement of Akshay Tritiya.

In Ahmedabad, generally Manek Chowk, Shivranjani and CG Road area jewellery markets remain busy on this day.

People try to purchase small piece or article on this auspicious day. Whole day is considered to be auspicious, irrespective of particular muhurat to buy.

Online schemes by big jewellers saw poor response, where as conventional shopping saw rush at jewellery shops and show rooms. Big jewellers offered 5 to 30 % discount on Online Shopping.

This year it is expected to have 15 to 16 tonnes of sales compared to previous year’s 14 ton sales of jewellery as per authority of gem and jewellery association.

Owing to Akshaya Tritiya rate of gold from Rs 46,800 per 10 gram saw new high today.

Genuine buyers took rate protection schemes by jewellery launch 2 weeks ahead of Akshaya Tritiya.
