In Ahmedabad there is a menace of stray dogs in streets of the city. From 2014 onwards, AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has stopped catching of dog as a part of dog control by AMC done earlier. AMC has awarded and extended contract to 4 NGOs namely Animal Help Foundation, People For foundation, Animal Right Fund and Sanskar Education Trust for 2 more years. Rs 636 is spent for castration of single dog. Nearly, Rs 6 crores have been spent by AMC on dog castration.
