Bihar Assembly election for all 243 seats in two phases

Bihar Assembly election will be held for all 243 seats in two phases, on 6 November and 11 November 2025. Counting of votes is scheduled for 14 November 2025. For the first phase: 121 seats across 18 districts will go to polls on 6 Nov, with around 3.75 crore voters expected in that phase.

The ruling alliance, National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and the opposition bloc, Mahagathbandhan, are deeply engaged in this contest. Key campaign issues include law & order, caste dynamics, welfare promises, and anti-incumbency. A notable caste factor: the community of Bhumihars (~2.9 % of population) is being treated as a pivot in the contest. The NDA has fielded 32 Bhumihar candidates, Mahagathbandhan 15.

Tejashwi Yadav (of RJD/Mahagathbandhan) has pledged to deposit ₹30,000 in women’s bank accounts under his proposed “Mai Bahin Maan Yojana” if they come to power. He also vowed to jail “goondas” (criminal elements) and criticised the NDA for daylight killings in Bihar.
