The NDA has achieved a sweeping victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections (243 seats total), securing well over the majority mark (~122 seats) and trending toward ~200+ seats. In his victory address, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the voters of Bihar for their trust in democracy and called the mandate a victory for women and youth. Celebrations erupted both in Bihar and in Delhi at the BJP headquarters: party workers waving flags, drums, chants, and at the BJP HQ Modi waving a “gamcha” (a traditional cloth) in celebration.
The result is being hailed by the NDA as affirmation of the “double-engine” model of governance (central + state) and of development politics in Bihar. Modi emphasised a new formula of “Mahila & Youth” (Women & Youth) being central to this mandate. He also referenced that “Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal” — signalling that the victory in Bihar may have wider political implications beyond the state. Additionally, Modi backed the concept of “purification of voter list” (SIR in the media) as part of what he said the youth voters took seriously.
At the BJP HQ in New Delhi: large gathering of party workers, banners, Modi entering greeted by applause and waving his “gamcha”. In Bihar (Patna and other districts): supporters of BJP and its allies of the NDA waving flags, dancing, beating drums, celebrating the large margin.
