BJP nominate 7 candidates on By-Elections in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: BJP Bharatiya Janata Party has announced candidates for 7 out of 8 seats for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly By-Elections 2020. BJP Candidates for Assembly By Elections 2020 has been declared for Morbi, Dhari, Abadsa, Dang, Karjan, Gadda, Kaprada seats. In the election, BJP has declared candidates for all the seats except Limbdi. In these seats, tickets have been given to a former minister and a BJP candidate for a Gadhada-Dang seat. While other seats have given tickets to candidates from Congress.
BJP has nominated Brijesh Merja from Morbi, Pradyumansinh Jadeja from Abdasa, Jitu Chaudhary from Kaprada, Akshay Patel from Karjan, JV Kakadia from Dhari and Atmaram Parmar from Gadhada.


Total eight Congress MLAs, including five on March 5 and three after that resigned before the Rajya Sabha elections in the Congress, leaving the seats vacant. Jitu Chaudhary from Kaprada, Mangal Gavit from Dang, Soma Patel from Limbdi, Pravin Maru from Gadhada, JV Kakadia from Dhari, Brijesh Merja from Morbi, Akshay Patel from Kaprada and Pradyumansinh Jadeja from Abadsa resigned.


Former BJP Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kiritsinh Rana was considered a candidate for Limbdi seat, which was complicated by Soma Patel’s desire to contest from Limbdi. However, BJP seems to be confused as Soma Patel, who has resigned from the Congress party, has expressed his desire to contest by-elections. As Somabhai Patel did not join BJP, the party did not give him a ticket but Congress party has made it clear that it will not give him a ticket in by-elections.


Following the guidelines of ECI Election Commission of India in view of the prevailing Coronavirus pandemic, State Government has issued SOPs with some important guidelines regarding election campaign. Campaigning for by-elections can be done by following the instructions. Notably, by-elections have been declared in the vacant seats of Abadsa, Dhari, Limbdi, Karjan, Olpad, Gadha, Dang, Morbi assembly constituencies. According to the Election Commission, voting will be held on November 3 and counting of votes will take place on November 10.

By-elections would be held in for three state assembly seats in Jharkhand, Orissa and Manipur .
