Cyclone Vayu latest news update from Gujarat

All ports in state ordered by the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) to refuse admission of any vessel coming towards Gujarat.Not to accept any shipping vessel at any port. Arrival of vessels suspended till the 14th. Four thousand workers of Alang ship breaking yard shifted to safety. Command and Control center at GMB keeping close watch on all vessels movements. VTMS secured with additional backup batteries. All radars are functional in gulf of Khambhat (Cambay) Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) activated.

In view of ‘Vayu Cyclone’, two evacuation special trains will run on 12.06.2019:

1) Okha-Rajkot Special will depart from Okha at 17.45 hrs and

2) Okha-Ahmedabad Special will depart from Okha at 20.05 hrs.

Exams to be taken on 12th postponed till 18th June and 13th postponed till 19th June.

More than 500 villages has been evacuated. 2.15 lakh people has been shifted. Gujarat CM And Dy CM held a meeting with the Collectors of all the affected districts.

From mid night police will be patrolling the vulnerable areas. People are supporting in evacuation process.

Central government has sought report on the cyclone effect in Gujarat state. Its probable landfall will be between veraval and Dwarka.

According to IMD, Vayu cyclone is far away 280 kms from Veraval and 360 kms away from Porbandar. 36 NDRF team are deployed of, 11 more team are ready, 14 companies of SRP are also deployed. 9 teams of SRDF are also deployed.

9 helicopters have been placed at strategic points. 300 marine commandos are also deployed
10 thousands tourists have also been shifted.

Pankaj Kumar, Principal secretary, Revenue department briefed on arrangements by Gujarat government to combat cyclone Vayu.

Emergency numbers in Jamnagar :0288- 2755169, Dwarka :02892-234044 and Okha:02892-262026 were made operational. Rajkot Control room number is: 0281- 2410009 and 0281-2410187 activated.

Weather has changed all over Gujarat. including state capital Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. It has started to rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in Gandhinagar.

Fishermen and coastal area residents are requested to move to safer places. Residents of  kachha house are requested to go to relief camps set up by the state government because the wind speeds are going to be very high and the sea is expected to surge to about 1-1.5 metres. All the citizens of India that the pre-emptive steps taken by the state administration, government agencies and armed forces will ensure that there is no loss of life.

According to this, cyclone will hit Kalyanpur. Considering the alertness for ‘VAYU’ cyclone over Gujarat, Western Railway has decided to fully cancel operation of 70 mainline trains, while 28 other mainline trains will be short terminated with partial cancellation as a precautionary measure.
