Launches city chapter of YFLO to attract, promote and nurture young, enterprising businesswomen sustainably
FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), Ahmedabad Chapter hosted an interstate integration in a first for the city, that saw over 130 women entrepreneurs across the country converging.
A fashion and lifestyle exhibition—the Ahmedabad Almirah—was inaugurated to mark the occasion highlighting the specialties and crafts of Gujarat.
FLO also announced the launch of the Ahmedabad chapter of Young FICCI Ladies Organization (YFLO) to woo young entrepreneurs into the fold. This is the fourth YFLO chapter to be launched nationally after Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Speaking on the inaugural occasion, Vinita Bimbhet, National President, FICCI FLO said, “FLO is a medium between the industry and the people. We are only 2% skilled while in Korea it is 99%. YFLO is about bringing young women into the workforce and empowering through skilling right at the grassroots. We are actively engaging with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. We are skilling women to become tour guides. It is encouraging to see that YFLO Ahmedabad already has close to 60 members.”
FLO has been instrumental in spearheading social work at three levels. It has signed a MoU to train 1500 women nationally for free in association Maruti Driving School & provide employment opportunity with Uber, of which 17 are trained in Gujarat. FLO has also imparted gardener’s training and inked a MOU for skill development. It has partnered with IIHM to train women from SEWA in culinary arts. Keeping in sync with the e-commerce medium, FLO has also partnered with Shop Clues & Infibeam while helping & encouraging women to sell their merchandise on these portals for a wider reach.
Roopa Patel, Chairperson, FLO Ahmedabad Chapter while sharing about her future plans of FLO chapter said, “FLO Ahmedabad has believed in empowerment of women and we have done it through tapping several home bred skills.
