Amreli, August 15, 2026: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel led the state-level celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day in Amreli, proudly unfurling the national flag and taking the salute at the ceremonial parade. The celebration reflected the spirit of patriotism and Gujarat’s commitment to continued development.
Extending warm Independence Day greetings to the people of Gujarat, Chief Minister Patel highlighted the state’s journey of all-round development and called for collective efforts to build a “Viksit Gujarat for Viksit Bharat.” He emphasised the importance of combining Gujarat’s heritage and spiritual traditions with modern development while keeping the national interest at the centre of the state’s growth agenda.
The state-level programme featured a ceremonial police parade and other presentations, adding to the patriotic atmosphere of the occasion. The Chief Minister also highlighted initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, youth development, environmental protection and Gujarat’s long-term development vision.
During the Independence Day programme, Patel announced several measures aimed at supporting citizens. These included assistance for rural housing, enhanced support for students seeking overseas higher education and additional measures for road infrastructure and child nutrition. The annual family-income ceiling for eligible unreserved-category students seeking overseas education loans was also raised from ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
The celebrations in Amreli also included development initiatives and events honouring the district’s history and freedom fighters. The Chief Minister had earlier visited an exhibition showcasing the contribution and sacrifices of around 75 freedom fighters associated with Amreli’s history.
The 80th Independence Day celebrations thus brought together Gujarat’s patriotic spirit, development priorities and commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous state as part of the broader vision of a developed India.
