Recently, a book titled  “At the career threshold” – What after Standard 12? By Gujarat Pradesh Congress President Arjun Modhwadiya and senior leaders Congress leaders Shankarsinh Vaghela and Siddharthbhai Patel.

This is for the 9th consecutive year in succession when Gujarat Congress has published a very useful book on Career Councelling, a ready recknor, for parents and students of Gujarat in era of cut throat competition.

The book will be made available at all Districts of Gujarat and from City Congress Committee Office, it will be provide free of cost.

Speaking in the occasion GPCC President Modhwadia  stated that selection of courses after Standard-12 becomes very important. This is a humble effort by Gujarat Unit of Congress party for the ninth consecutive year to make available this book with a view to help students of Gujarat for selection of proper courses in the present days of competitive age keeping in view their abilities. This Career Guidance Program has been given prominent place in the report published of Indian National Congress Committee at its National Convention. The Union Government led by Congress Party has enacted a historical Act “Right to Education Act” for ensuring fundamental right of every child to have education. Government of Gujarat has remained directionless so far as implementation of this Right to Education Act is concerned. Large scale commercialization has taken place in the State of Gujarat. The framework of Government granted institutions has shattered and the standards of fees in private institutions has been rising at jet speed.

Modhwadia further added that  release of Book  Karkirdi Na Umbare was possible with budget allocations of only 13.9% of total Budget of Gujarat, the State has been ranked at the bottom at 14th rank in the country as a result of which, Gujarat has gone to 12th rank from th position with 79.13% of literate rate. It has been at 14th rank in Education Index, 14th rank with 59.11% rate of drop out ratio of children in the age group of 6 to 16 years, and it has been the last in the table at 28th rank in case of children with capability of reading and writing English – with rate of 7.95 only. BJP Government seem to be worrying for management/administrators of technical, medical and other branches institutions instead of students paying huge fees.

Special scholarship provisions are introduced for children of SC, ST and minority community. By establishing Knowledge Network, Government of India has inter-linked more than 400 Universities and more than 100 national institutes with each other. 19,000 knowledge network nodes have been established in the country. He extended

congratulations on behalf of the Congress party to Congress Spokesperson Dr.Manish Doshi and his team for meticulously compiling the book and putting efforts towards its publication.

Senor Congress Legislative leader Shankarsinji Vaghela appreciated efforts put in by Dr Manish Dosh in providing a very useful piece of information to Class 10 and 12, students and parents community. Vaghela congratulated team of Dr Doshi for this publication.

Vaghela further stated that the UPA government lead by Congress  has allocated five time more grants during 10th Five Year Plan, 11th Five Year Plan and 12th Five Year Plans for the Education. However, efforts by State Government to make available education to all are gradually reducing and the education sector is becoming commercialized at a fast speed. Government of Gujarat should increase scholarship to meritorious students and extend them financial support.

Siddharthbhai Patel stated that more than 70% posts of Professors are vacant in Government engineering, pharmacy, degree, diploma colleges in the State. Results of Gujarat Technological University which conducts examinations of Engineering and Pharmacy course are very poor. Results of pass out of Engineering courses is only 38%, 39% for pharmacy and 38% in MBA and 18% in Diploma courses. It is essential that the State Government be bothered about improving standard of education in Gujarat.
