Gujarat Congress leader petition to be heard on October 29 for nagar palika polls

Today, Narendra Ravat, General Secretary, Gujarat Congress informed that hearing Special Leave Petition will conducted by thehe Gujarat High Court on October 29, 2015.

SPL seeks stay the operation of election issued by the State Election Commission of Gujarat for holding elections of 6 Mahanagarpalikas in Gujarat. It also demands Stay on the elections of 6 Mahanagarpalikas in Gujarat pending adjudication of the present Special leave Petition.

The SPL has raised issues with respect to elections to municipal bodies with respect to constitutional provisions and matter of public importance and therefore requests urgent hearing from Honorable court and demanded stay

State Election Commissioner of Gujarat Varesh Sinha recently announced the dates of elections for 6 municipal corporations in Gujarat. When asked by media persons whether there was a stay on holding elections in six municipal corporations, Sinha replied that legal experts had went through the court order and there was no stay on holding elections.

On the other hand the Congress leader Narendra Ravat said there’s stay on holding civic elections and he would move Supreme Court over announcement of elections of municipal corporation.
