Gujarat Declares Four Districts Drought-Affected Amid Low and Delayed Rainfall

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announces decision to support farmers and livestock rearers in Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Kachchh and Jamnagar

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has announced the decision to declare four districts—Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Kachchh and Jamnagar—as drought-affected due to low and delayed rainfall.

The decision aims to address the difficulties faced by farmers and livestock rearers in the affected districts and provide necessary assistance during the challenging situation.

Emphasising the state government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, Chief Minister Patel said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government has consistently prioritised the interests of farmers and livestock rearers.

He stated that the government had stood firmly with farmers during difficult times in the past and would continue to extend sensitive and timely support whenever they face distress.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government remains committed to providing the assistance required by farmers and livestock rearers to help them cope with the impact of inadequate rainfall.

The declaration marks a government response to the rainfall-related challenges in the four districts, with further relief measures and assistance to be guided by the applicable government provisions and announcements.
