Gujarat HC reserves verdict on PIL challenging ban on mobile internet services post Patidar agitation

Today in Ahmedaad, High Court bench of justice Jayant Patel and justice NV ANjari made hearing  in response to public interest litigation challenging  ban on mobile internet services by Gujarat government post Patidar agitation in Ahmedabad. The government termed banning internet services for one week follwing August 25  to control spread of rumors.  News of Patidar leader Hardik Patel had gone viral and situation demanded immediate ban on services. There were 9 nine apps used by Patidars to communicate on participating in mega rally of Ahmedabad. After Hardik’s detention some provocative messages were sent which could have spoiled law and order in the state, government got inputs from IB. The petitioner called such type of ban as attack on fundamental rights, after imposing curfew only blocing of social sites could have been enough.

Plea from both the parties were made. However, HC has reserved the verdict. Hardik Patel said my phone was taken by police after my arrest on agitation day and later there was ban on mobile services. He added, if he is proved to be responsible he is ready to go to jail.
