Gujarat High Court Justice GR Udhwani passed away today from Coronavirus. He had been detected positive for Coronaviru for last 15 days. His health deteriorated last night and he breathed his last early this morning. He started his career as a city civil judge. He was promoted in the High Court.
According to information received, three Gujarat High Court judges were infected with Coronavirus during the Diwali festivities.
All staff are tested before the commencement of court proceedings after the three judges of the court have been infected. In addition, as per the guidelines prepared by the Central and State Governments, the functioning of the court has been initiated.
In July, about 8 employees of High Court tested positive and the Court was declared a micro-containment zone. An online hearing was being held in High Court in view of Coronavirus transition. However, the phased hearing will now begin in the High Court on September 14. In the first phase, a division and a bench of three / four single judges will hear the cases directly. The official order in the direct hearing was made by Chief Justice Vikram Nath.
