Gandhinagar: In response to widespread heavy rainfall across Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a late-night review of the state’s flood preparedness at the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC). The Chief Minister assessed the latest weather conditions, ongoing rescue operations, and the overall preparedness of the administration.
During the review, the Chief Minister directed all concerned District Collectors to remain on high alert, particularly in view of the Red Alert forecast for 10 districts of the state. He instructed officials to ensure swift response mechanisms, continuous monitoring, and timely evacuation of residents from vulnerable areas wherever necessary.
To strengthen emergency response efforts, the administration has deployed two Army columns each in Ahmedabad, Navsari, and Surat. In addition, Indian Air Force helicopters stationed at Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Vadodara, and Pune have been kept ready to provide assistance for rescue and relief operations as required.
Officials stated that the state’s proactive planning and coordinated disaster management efforts have already yielded significant results. More than 16,500 residents have been safely evacuated from flood-prone areas to secure locations, while 41 people have been successfully rescued during ongoing operations.
The state government continues to closely monitor the evolving weather situation and has urged citizens in affected districts to follow official advisories and cooperate with local authorities to ensure their safety.
