Gujarat Police Signs MOU with MapmyIndia for Road Safety

Gujarat Police’s Important Initiative for Road Safety and Traffic Management,  Gujarat Police Signs MoU with Indigenous App ‘Mappls’ (MapmyIndia)

In a major step toward enhancing road safety and traffic management in Gujarat, the Gujarat Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the indigenous navigation application Mappls (MapmyIndia).

Recently, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi held a special meeting with all departments under the ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi’ campaign, emphasizing the adoption of indigenous technology. Under the guidance of State Police Chief Shri Vikas Sahay, the State Traffic Branch has entered into this special MoU with Mappls to empower traffic management and road safety using a Made-in-India digital platform.

Mappls (MapmyIndia) has developed and updated special citizen-centric features in its app. Apart from navigation, citizens and motorists will now receive updated information on:

  • Black Spots (Accident-prone locations)
  • Accident Zones
  • Speed Limits
  • Real-time Traffic Advisories

The State Traffic Branch has provided Mappls with data on black spots and potential accident-prone zones, which has now been updated in the app. Speed limits have also been integrated, ensuring that motorists can anticipate dark or risky road sections in advance and avoid any untoward incidents.

As per the MoU, Gujarat Police will provide MapmyIndia with real-time daily updates on various traffic-related information. This includes:

  • Road Closures
  • Planned Road Construction/Repair Activities
  • Information regarding rallies and major public events

These updates will reflect in real time on the Mappls app, helping citizens choose alternative routes promptly.

To support smooth implementation, all district police teams have been trained—through a specially created WhatsApp group—on how to share traffic inputs with MapmyIndia. The data updation process has already begun.

Gujarat Police is continuously working with MapmyIndia to provide motorists with improved, real-time traffic updates, ensuring safer and more convenient travel.

The Gujarat Police has appealed to citizens across the state to make maximum use of the Mappls (MapmyIndia) application for customized traffic updates and enhanced traffic management.
