Gujarat has started preliminary preparations to host next Olympics 2036. A high-level meeting was held in Ahmedabad was led by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Sports Minister Harsh Sanghvi. In Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar, in Sardar Patel Sports Complex near Narendra Modi Stadium and Naranpura Sports Complex, preliminary discussions were held in this meeting regarding creation of necessary infrastructure for its planning. Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave necessary guidance in the meeting for building necessary sports infrastructure, accommodation facilities for players-coaches etc. to be set up in accordance with rules and norms of the Olympics in the places identified by Gujarat government for the games of 2036 Olympics.
Also Directions were given regarding planning of creating complete facilities for Water sports and Mountain sports at the places chosen. Amit Shah also suggested that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Sports Minister Harsh Sanghvi should periodically review work plan prepared by the state government. Home Minister said that holding of Olympics of 2036 will make city of Ahmedabad a faster developed city than Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta.
Chief Secretary Pankaj kumar, Mukesh Kumar Principal Secretary Urban Development and Principal Secretary Sports and Cultural Activities Ashwini kumar made a presentation about Gujarat’s preparations for Olympics-2036 in the meeting. Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Thennarsan, AUDA CEO DP Desai and senior officials were present in the meeting.
