As of January 1, 2025, the Government of Gujarat formally upgraded nine municipalities to full-fledged Municipal Corporations, bringing the total in the state to 17.
These newly constituted municipal corporations are:
Navsari
Porbandar (Porbandar–Chhaya)
Surendranagar
Vapi
Mehsana
Anand (Karamsad Anand)
Gandhidham
Morbi
Nadiad
Each new corporation is structured with 13 wards, totalling 52 seats per corporation. Of those seats, 50% are reserved for women (26 seats) and 27% for OBCs (~14 seats). Elections are pending; currently, district collectors serve as administrators until polls are held
