Indian Red Cross Society register 1.25 lakh donors for blood donation on Martyrs Day

Blood donation in celebration of ‘Amrut Mahotsav’ of Independence ‘Blood donation in memory of martyrs who shed blood for independence’ Hemu Kalani, the undisputed hero of freedom, Sindhi youth will be remembered
On March 15, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the nationwide celebration of ‘Amrut Mahotsav’ of independence. As a part of Amrut Mahotsav, he called upon all sections of the society to participate in the celebrations as well as to do useful and constructive work for the society. Therefore, in the memory of the martyrs who shed blood for freedom, a state-wide blood donation camp has been organized on March 9, 2021 to celebrate the ‘Amrut Mahotsav of Independence’ with blood donation camp. The blood donation camp is organized by Samvedana, a joint venture of NIMA National Integrated Medical Association and National Integrated Forum for Artists and Activists.


Martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged by the British on March 8, 20 years ago. March 8 is celebrated all over the country as Martyrs Day. It is worth mentioning that March 8 is also the birthday of revolutionary freedom fighter Hemu Kalani. Hemu , a Sindh-born revolutionary, was hanged by the British at the age of 19. The sentiments of the Sindhi community all over the world, including India, are connected with Hemu Kalani. Reacting on the occasion, Sanjeev Mehta, President, Gujarat Unit, said, “We are trying to alleviate the blood shortage in Corona crisis with the blood donation camp organized as part of the Amrut Mahotsav of Independence.” Dr President Hasmukh C Vaid said about 90,000 bottles of blood will be collected from all over India on the occasion of Martyrs Day. We have set up more than 50 blood donation centers in Gujarat and we expect that about 4000 bottles of blood will be collected from the state. Dr Anil Khatri said that if we talk about’Amrut Mahotsav’ of independence, we have to start by remebering Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru and Hemu Kalani. These were all great grandsons of the country, who were hanged with a smile. Let us all pay our true homage to him by joining the nationwide blood donation camp organized in his memory on the occasion of March 23 Martyrs’ Day. Not everyone may get the opportunity to become a great patriot, but this is another opportunity to prove to be a true patriot by donating blood.
The blood donation camps organized in memory of the martyred heroes by Samvedana campaign include Bhuj, Adipur, Gandhidham, Palanpur, Bhavnagar, Anand, Amreli. , Petlad, Kapadvanj, Dahod, Navsari, Godhra, Kalol, Himmatnagar, Rajkot, Vyara, Rajpipla, Surat, Patan, Tarapur, Dang, Lunawada and Bhavnagar. Blood donation camps have been organized at about 10 places in Ahmedabad alone. Bollywood Actress Avani Modi will also try to awaken society by participating in the program.
Apart from this, in memory of Dandi Yatra, Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha Ahmedabad has decided to collect a minimum of 5 bottles of blood. Organizations like Indian Red Cross Society, Brahmakumaris, NBTC National Blood Transfusion Council, Haryana Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, Vishwa Umiya Foundation, Thalassemia Awareness Foundation and Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha etc. will also participate in these blood donation camps.
