Filmmaker Karan Johar was summoned by the Mumbai Police to record his statement in connection with the All India Bakchod (AIB) Knockout event that was held in Worli in December 2013. The police is also likely to summon actors Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
Senior police officers said that Karan, who is currently in London, has sought some time and also promised full cooperation after his return to the city. Karan Johar, who appeared as the ‘Roastmaster’ or the host, has been named as an accused for using obscene words during the programme. The content of the programme was termed as ‘vulgar’ by social activist Santosh Daundkar, who then approached a city court in February 2014. The court ordered the police to lodge a FIR against the filmmaker and submit a report. The AIB Knockout is a programme inspired from the West, in which celebrities are mocked and ridiculed.
