Today Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao rejected Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt’s plea to cancel jail term in an arms case related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts.The petition by former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju seeking pardon for the actor has been rejected exactly after two-and-a-half years.
The 56-year-old actor, on parole after he cited his daughter illness. Prior to this, in October 2013, Dutt was released on medical furlough for 28 days, followed by another 28 days in December 2013 to tend to his ailing wife Manyata, 14-day parole in December 2014 and another 60 days from January 2014. Actor was on 5 years jail term.
