In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Gujarat government has transferred and promoted 37 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state, bringing major changes in the police leadership. The large-scale restructuring is aimed at strengthening law enforcement and administrative efficiency within the state police system.
One of the most notable changes is the transfer of senior IPS officer Nirlipt Rai, who has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of Rajkot Range. Rai, who earlier served in the State Monitoring Cell (SMC), had built a strong reputation for his strict action against bootleggers and illegal activities. During his tenure, several Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) and Police Inspectors (PIs) were suspended, and multiple officials were transferred outside their districts, creating a strong deterrent against unlawful operations.
Among other key appointments, Shamsher Singh has been posted as Director General of Police (DGP), Civil Defence, while Ashok Kumar, who served as IG Rajkot Range, has been transferred to the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Gagandeep Gambhir has been given additional charge as IGP of the State Monitoring Cell.
Further changes include Gautamkumar Parmar becoming IG, CID Crime, and Raghvendra Vats being appointed IG, Ahmedabad Range. Nilesh Jajadia has been made Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), Vadodara City, while Bipin Ahire has been posted at the Cyber Centre of Excellence as IG.
In the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), P. L. Mal has been appointed as Additional Director, and Deepak Kumar Meghani will serve as Joint Director. A. G. Chauhan has been posted as JCP Traffic, Ahmedabad, while R. V. Asari has taken charge as IG Bhavnagar Range.
Other important appointments include Parikshita Rathod as IG Banaskantha Range, Vidhi Chaudhary as DIGP Godhra Range, and Vishal Kumar Vaghela as DIGP in the State Monitoring Cell, with additional responsibility as DIGP of the Police Recruitment Board.
In training and administrative roles, Leena Patil has been appointed Principal of the Karai Police Training School, while Dr. Tarun Duggal will serve as Additional Commissioner (Administration), Ahmedabad City.
Further postings include Mahendra Bagaria as JCP Surat, Dr. Sudhir Desai as Additional Commissioner Vadodara City, Balram Meena as Special Commissioner Surat, and Dr. Karanraj Vaghela as JCP Crime Surat.
Several officers have also been assigned to specialized units such as prisons, coastal security, and special branches, reflecting a broad restructuring of operational responsibilities. Meanwhile, IPS officer Wabang Jamir has been placed on waiting for posting after a long period without an assignment.
The reshuffle is considered one of the major administrative moves in the Gujarat Police in recent months and is expected to bring fresh momentum to law enforcement and governance across the state.
