Maker Mela event for grass root innovations in India invites nominations for Ahmedabad

Many Corporate sectors realize significance of innovation and R&D and investment in R&D activities to harness technological proves. In city Maker Mela, for grassroots innovations in India has announced its call for entries for the year 2017 from Arts, Crafts, Engineering, Science and the Do-It- Yourself (DIY) mind-set concepts. It is a platform to bring to life a diverse range of raw, unique and unconventional ideas.

200+ Makers from across India and abroad will be shortlisted to participate with 50,000+ visitors. For the Makers finalist, the event provides opportunities for pitching ideas to investors for raising funds; receive mentoring from global leaders, access to the global community of FabLabs and attending talks by leading speakers. The forum provides a means for corporate and explore young talent with novel ideas. On 29th November at AMA organizers shared details about the happening event. Gaurang Shetty, Chief Innovation Catalyst, riidl, “Maker Mela is a way to connect the Indian Makers to the global Maker Movement. After success of last year, we are receiving entries from interested Participants/Makers from across the country. Some Makers from Gujarat have already been selected and we expect great innovative ideas to come from participants.”


With a motto of “Today’s DIY is Tomorrow’s Made In India”, the Mela sees participants from various sectors including 3D Printing, Nutritious Food, Software Apps, Tech Hardware Prototypes and Manufacturing concepts; from youngsters with an idea to a homemaker with a business plan; from a technocrat to an entrepreneur. The final event to be held from Jan 13- 15, 2017 in Mumbai.

Some talented students of Gujarat are shortlisted for this event. Among them Daxeel Soni, engineering student from Silver Oak College whose work is selected said “realizing the fact that professional grade CNC machines are quite expensive and not affordable for any academic institute, preventing students to keep away from learning on basics of CNC machines.”

NID pass out Sahil Thappa will also be showcasing his Sonic Architect which is series of Handcrafted audio systems said “each audio unit is handmade using local wood and high fidelity audio components from global vendors. I have given a proto model which could be copied easily for their benefit in the world. I would also like to commercialize my product soon.”
