Today Thane Police have named former actor Mamta Kulkarni as an accused in the Rs. 2,000 crore ephedrine racket that was busted earlier this year. Mamta’s husband Vicky Goswami was already wanted for his alleged connection to the racket, which involved making ephedrine in India and sending it abroad to an international drug cartel. The Thane Police had in April 2016 seized 18.5 tonnes of ephedrine, a precursor to methamphetamines, from a factory in Solapur and 10 accused have been arrested so far.Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh said that Mamta is made an accused in the case after interrogation of the already arrested accused and other investigations revealed evidence pointing to her involvement.“The key players of the drug racket had a meeting in Kenya in January 2016. He added that Red Corner Notices will soon be issued against Mamta and Vicky Goswami through Interpol. “Some more  from Bollywood could also be connected to the racket. Investigations to verify this are underway,” Mr. Singh said.
