In the accident of suspension bridge in Morbi sent shock waves throughout Gujarat. People above capacity were allowed to go simultaneously by issuing tickets on the bridge first and later suddenly the bridge collapsed and many people were drowned in Machhu river.
Total of 135 people including elders were killed in the accident. Gujarat High Court has taken serious note of Morbi accident issue. In the case, High Court has said that strict action is expected from the state government in the matter. Officials including Home Department, Urban Housing, Municipal Commissioner, Human Rights have also been issued notices in Morbi suspension bridge collapse incident.
During the hearing, Gujarat High Court has ordered to submit reply by November 14 in the case of Morbi accident. The registry has also been instructed to take into consideration the popular news reports regarding the death of 134 people in the Morbi incident. High Court has resumed from today after Diwali vacation. In the beginning of the proceedings, tributes were paid to victim of Morbi tragedy.
It is important to note that suspension bridge in Morbi collapsed at 6:30 pm on October 30. In which 135 people died and many people were injured. After the accident, administration immediately had started rescue operation. Many people including Army, Navy, NDRF, SDRF were deployed to rescue drowned people in Macchu river. After five days, the search operation in Morbi has been officially concluded.
