Finally,rain lashes in Mumbai as a relief and brings relief on faces of Mumbaites. Even, delayed rain by 3 weeks, has deferred water shortage issue of Mumbai. However, heavy downpour in low lying areas of city have shown scenes of water logging, traffic jams and transport delays. Daily commuters are affected at large.
Some 104mm of rainfall was measured in first three hours of rain. Director of Weather Forecasting, Mumbai Meteorological Department, as saying, “So far we had a weak spell of rains in Mumbai. Low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, has caused rainfall in the city. We expect the rainfall to last with the same intensity for the next 48 hours and after that it may reduce.”
The first heavy showers of the season left rail and bus commuters as well as motorists experiencing a harrowing time.
