Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi  gave condolences on to Jnanpith awardee writer U R Ananthmurthy and on his death at 82. PM Modi said death of Ananthmurthy is a loss to Kannada literature. Modi gave condolences to his family. Modi tweeted: “May his soul rest in peace” .

82-year-old Kannada writer, who received the Jnanpith award in 1994 and Padma Bhushan in 1998.
