Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is keen to bring the mega sporting event of International Repute that India has never hosted before, PM Narendra Modi is expected to meet International Olympic Committee president later this month to discuss the possibility of India bidding for the 2024 Olympic Games. The IOC, who will be visiting New Delhi on April 27, feels that a country of 1.2 billion people must play a bigger role in international sporting events. As per media reports Ahmedabad may emerge as the venue for the games, though nothing has been finalised yet.
Closing date for submission of application for nations willing to host the 2024 Olymics is October 2015 while the IOC will shortlist possible host cities by May, 2016. The host city will officially be announced in July, 2017.
