Early morning of Wednesday at around 5 am, in an accident at Malin village of Ambegaon district in Pune, a big section of hillock slide down over 40 homes in the surrounding areas, fearing 200 people being trapped. Reason for landslide is attributed to heavy rains and loosening of soil. Forces from Police and Army including villagers are on the job of rescuing people. Rescue workers are on their way to the area but have been hindered by poor roads leading to the village and continued rains.
The villagers sleeping in their homes were caught unawares and many are feared trapped under the mud, boulders and debris, since the accident took place in wee hours. Two persons have been rescued alive from the debris.
