Rathyatra preparations in Ahmedabad in full swing: Anandiben and Smriti Irani to perform Pahind ceremony

Preparations for 137th Rathyarta is in full swing. Every year Rathyatra was commencing after Pahind Ceremony, service to Lord Jagannath in Ahmedabad by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Now , with ellivation of Modi as nation’s Prime Minister. This year, Gujarat’s new Chief Minister Anandiben Patel accopanied by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani will perform Pahind Ceremony at the temple, said trustee. Taking a cue from every year’s rush of devotees, the temple authorities this year made a strong presentation before AMC requesting it to clearthe road approaching the temple.

Trsutees of Jagannath have requested AMC authories and Traffic Police of the city to handle road congestion as huge number of devotees and fleet of chariots and procession will be there. In addition to devotees, security personal will be guarding the procession.

Meanwhile, the Lord’s attire (vagha) is ready. A local resident said “This year, we have designed the vagha in Rajasthani style. For this we have used vibrant colours like orange, purple and blue. We haven’t used red much to give a different look.” Kasab and tikki work on Banarasi and Calcutta silk have been used to decorate the attires of Lord Jagannath, brother Baldev and sister Subhadra.
