Supreme Court orders Centre to set up trust for temple construction, allots alternate land for mosque

Today on Ayodhya verdict is out. 5 judges – CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Next CJI Justice SA Bobde, Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice DY Chandra Chund, Justice Abdul Nazeer A run through the highlights
1. The verdict is unanimous 5-0 2. Historical accounts indicate the belief of Hindus that Ayodhya is the birth place of Ram. 3. Mosque built by Mir Baqi on orders of Babur. 4. There is adequate material in ASI report which says Babri Masjid was not built on vacant land and the underlying structure wasn’t islamic. 5. Hindus were not barred from entering the premises till 1857 6. Allahabad judgement was incorrect to distribute land in three parts. 7. Disputed land which at present is in Govt possession should be given to Hindus in 3 months.
Muslims should be given alternative land. Title over land has been decided as per law and not on the basis of faith and belief : SC

Ayodhya verdict: 40,000 cops deployed in Mumbai

At least 40,000police personnel have been deployed in Mumbai in view of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute case, officials said. The situation will be monitored through drone units and live CCTV feeds from the police control room.
