Supreme Court rejected petition seeking probe into whether Salman Khan used money to secure acquittal

Today The Supreme Court rejected a petition seeking probe into whether actor Salman Khan and his family used money to secure the actor’s acquittal in 2002 hit and run case. Supreme Court bench led by Justice J S Khehar called the plea as “wild allegation without any basis” and said that the main controversy regarding his acquittal is already being heard by it. Delhi lawyer M L Sharma urged the court to take judicial note of a statement reportedly made by Salman’s father Salim Khan that the family spent Rs 25 crores on the case. Sharma claimed it was an extra judicial confession hinting towards money used in influencing the judiciary. The bench construed that: “They have spent on lawyers’ fee. Where have they said they purchased anyone? These are wild allegations.”
