Today Ahmedabad Rural SOG Special Operations Group has busted an illegal abortion racket going on in Bavla town, based on a tip received by the team during routine patrolling.

The raid was conducted in coordination with the Bavla Taluka Health Department to nab medical practitioners and illegal termination of pregnancies. Health authorities had instructed to identify and take stern action against unregistered medical practitioners endangering public health and those indulged in illegal abortion activities.

While SOG around Bavla town they received credible information about illegal abortion practicies at Room No 105 of Panama Guest House. Allegedly Hemlattaben, wife of Kalpeshbhai Chinubhai Darji, resident of Dholka, was carrying out abortions without holding any legitimate medical degree.

Accused, Hemlattaben, admitted of not holding a legal medical degree, however she has undergone nursing and previously worked at Santokba Hospital in Dholka. She used the nursing experience to illegally perform abortions for personal financial gain, charging significant amounts to pregnant lady seeking termination of pregnancy.
Her Modus Operandi involved Renting Rooms at Panama Guest House to carry out the procedures.Three ladies were present at the site, one of whom had just undergone an abortion. A foetus was also found at the site. Following which,a legal action has been initiated against the three ladies, and a case has been registered at Bavla Police Station. Further investigation is going on.

Case at Bavla Police Station under various sections of BNSS Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections of Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 has been filed.
