Amit Chavda formally takes charge as GPCC President, Tushar Chaudhary as LOP

On 22 July 2025, Amit Chavda Congress MLA from Anand formally took charge at GPCC headquarters in Ahmedabad, dubbing the occasion “Sankalp Diwas” (Day of Resolution). He pledged to visit every household and fight for victory in Gujarat Assembly Elections of 2027. He has announced plans like the “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan”, aiming to rebuild Congress’s grassroots structure booth by booth.
On 17 July 2025, Chavda was officially appointed by the Congress high command as the President of GPCC, succeeding Shaktisinh Gohil after recent bypoll setbacks. It is his second term in the role; previously, he led the state unit from March 2018 to December 2021. He’s also a five-time MLA representing Anklav and comes from a notable political family (his grandfather was MP Ishwarbhai Chavda).

Senior AICC leader Madhusudan Mistry, CWC member Jagdish Thakor, former president Siddharth Patel, Seva Dal national president Lalji Desai, former LOP Paresh Dhanani, Deputy LOP Shailesh Parmar, working president of GPCC Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Indravijaysinh Gohil, Jignesh Mevani, Kadir Pirzada, Lalit Kagthra, former MLA Punjabbhai Vansh, Lok Sabha MP Geniben Thakor addressed the crowd at the oath ceremony at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, Ahmedabad . The ceremony was conducted by the general secretary of the state committee Naim Mirza and the vote of thanks was given by AICC minister Ritwij Makwana.

At the oath ceremony, hundreds of workers from all over Gujarat, including Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Co-in-charge Ushaben Naidu, Ramkishan Ojha, Subhasini Yadav, Bhupendra Maravi, NSUI, Youth Congress, Seva Dal and Mahila Congress presidents, cell-department heads, office bearers, MLAs and leaders, welcomed the election of the state president.
