Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has urged citizens to take precautions as the Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert till May 15, 2026, due to rising temperatures and intense heat conditions.
The civic body advised people to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, buttermilk, and other fluids. Citizens have been asked to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and wear light-colored cotton clothes. People are also encouraged to take rest at cool places from time to time, while special care should be taken of children, senior citizens, and pregnant women.
AMC also shared common symptoms of heatstroke and heat-related illness, including:
- Heat rashes
- Excessive sweating and weakness
- Headache and dizziness
- Red, dry, and hot skin
- Muscle pain and fatigue
- Nausea and vomiting
The administration appealed to residents to remain alert during the ongoing heatwave conditions and repeatedly emphasized the message: “Drink water frequently, stay protected from heat.”
