The Gujarat government has approved the construction of a new modern hostel and mess complex at the site near Ahmedabad Civil Hospital where the Super Speciality Hostel Block and mess building were damaged in the plane crash incident. The Health and Family Welfare Department has granted administrative approval of more than ₹34.34 crore for the project, while the total estimated project cost may reach around ₹51 crore.
According to the government order, construction of the new hostel block and mess building will be undertaken during the financial year 2025-26. Discussions are underway that an official announcement regarding the project could be made on June 12, marking the anniversary of the plane crash incident.
Key Conditions Fixed by the Government
- Immediate administrative approval will be followed by preparation of designs and estimates as per S.O.R norms.
- All construction work must strictly follow the PWD Manual and government guidelines.
- If land acquisition becomes necessary, the concerned department will bear complete responsibility.
- Mandatory approvals from the Environment Department and Pollution Control Board must be obtained before construction.
- All other required legal and statutory clearances must be secured in advance.
- Authorities must ensure there is no delay in execution of the project.
- Construction work must be carried out without affecting hospital operations and patient convenience.
- In case of litigation or public interest petitions, responsibility will lie with the concerned department.
- Strict compliance with fire safety and security agency norms will be mandatory.
- Quality checks and technical audits will be conducted after project completion.
- Any demand for additional grant or expenditure will require fresh government approval.
- The project must be completed within the stipulated timeline.
