Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced its new leadership team with BJP leader Hitesh Barot taking over as the new Mayor of Ahmedabad. Anjuben Shah has been appointed as the Deputy Mayor during the AMC General Board meeting held in the city.
The civic body also finalized other key positions as part of the new administrative setup. Kamlesh Patel has been appointed Chairman of the influential Standing Committee, which plays a major role in financial approvals and development-related decisions within AMC.
Atul Mishra has been given the responsibility of Dandak (party whip), where he will coordinate party affairs and maintain discipline among corporators in the municipal corporation.
On the opposition side, senior Congress leader Jasubhai Thakor has been named the Leader of Opposition in AMC and will represent the opposition during major civic discussions and policy matters.
The newly formed leadership team is expected to focus on urban development, infrastructure expansion, public transport improvements, sanitation, water management, and ongoing smart city projects across Ahmedabad.
