GSFC’s New Pesticide Products to Be a Milestone in Crop Protection and Enhancing Farmers’ Returns: Agriculture Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani Gandhinagar
23 September 2026: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel launched the innovative products of Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC), a state government undertaking, from Gandhinagar. Agriculture Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani, Energy Minister Shri Rushikesh Patel, Minister of State Shri Kaushik Vekariya and Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Ramesh Katara were present on the occasion. Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, these seven powerful crop protection solutions reflect Gujarat’s journey towards ‘Viksit Krushi’ to ‘Viksit Gujarat’.
He commended GSFC’s role in advancing technology-driven, efficient and sustainable agriculture. As the state celebrates 25 years of PM’s public service through the statewide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the Chief Minister said that these GSFC initiatives will further strengthen agriculture and the rural economy. He said that the Prime Minister has identified Garib, Annadata, Yuva and Nari Shakti as the four key pillars for building Viksit Bharat. The Chief Minister highlighted that these seven GSFC initiatives will help farmers improve the quality of their produce, add value, support processing and gain access to global markets. He said that the seven new products under GSFC’s well-known ‘Sardar’ brand will provide farmers with effective options for crop protection.
He said that GSFC is developing a wide range of agricultural products, including balanced nutrients, bio-fertilisers and other inputs, to ensure farmers get quality crop protection solutions on time and in a reliable manner. Chief Minister expressed his commitment to advancing the nation’s development through prosperous agriculture by promoting innovation, technology and higher farmers’ incomes through effective crop protection. He congratulated the GSFC team of scientists and researchers on the launch of these new initiatives. On the occasion, Agriculture Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani stated that these new products, part of GSFC’s development journey that began in 1962, will prove to be a milestone in protecting farmers’ crops and making their hard work fruitful. Developed after high-quality research, these seven products, including Sardar Aadhar, Sardar G-Guard and Sardar Tufani, have been introduced in the market to protect crops from pests and weeds.
He said that special care has been taken to make these products available to farmers at reasonable prices while maintaining the quality of crops and soil. GSFC has always remained at the forefront of research and technology, and under the guidance of Chief Minister, the state’s farmers are being provided with the best technologies and products from time to time. A modern method has been developed under which these pesticides protect crops from pests for a few days and then break down in the soil without causing harm.
He urged farmers to use chemical pesticides only where necessary and in the prescribed quantity. What are the Seven Initiatives? With the objective of increasing agricultural productivity in the state and further strengthening crop protection, GSFC has launched seven new pesticides and herbicides under the “Sardar” brand. These include Sardar Sathi, Sardar Raftaar, Sardar Tufani Fipro, Sardar Jandaar, Sardar Aadhar, Sardar G-Gold and Sardar Senapati. All these products will be made available to farmers through Kisan Suvidha Kendras and GSFC’s authorised distribution network. On the occasion, Chief Minister and other dignitaries unveiled ‘Krushijivan’, a special agricultural magazine based on research by agricultural scientists and aimed at providing farmers with accurate guidance on crop-related matters. The event was attended by State Chief Secretary and Chairman of GSFC Shri M. K. Das, Managing Director Shri Rajender Kumar and Director Shri Ashwini Kumar, along with senior officials and employees of the organisation.
