Ahmedabad, July 2: In a shocking incident, Ahmedabad Crime Branch Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Sharad Singhal was injured after being attacked with a knife by a wanted history-sheeter during an interrogation on Thursday. The accused reportedly turned violent while being questioned and launched a sudden attack on the senior IPS officer.
According to preliminary reports, the accused is a notorious repeat offender with multiple criminal cases against him. Investigators suspect he was under the influence of drugs or other intoxicating substances at the time of the attack, though authorities are awaiting forensic and medical confirmation.
Police sources said JCP Sharad Singhal sustained injuries in the attack. In an act of self-defence and to neutralize the threat, the officer reportedly fired at the assailant, bringing the situation under control. The accused was immediately overpowered by the Crime Branch team and taken into custody.
